RICHMOND , VA – Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) will hold a Job Fair today, Monday, August 17 th from 9:30AM- 1:30 PM at Clover Hill High School ; over 80 businesses are scheduled to participate. 

In addition to meeting with area businesses (listed below), job seekers will have the opportunity to perfect valuable skills in breakout seminars on financial literacy, avoiding foreclosure, health care: understanding insurance and avoiding non-coverage, starting a business, how to build and market a growing business, job seeking skills, personal advertisement, resume development, interviewing and networking. For additional information or to be part of the Cantor Job Fair, please visit http://cantor.house.gov/jobfair/

Congressman Cantor issued the following statement:

“First and foremost, Virginians are concerned about the economy and jobs.  Unemployment is on the rise, and the only way to measure the success of the stimulus bill is by the immediate impact it has on the economy.  Since the stimulus bill passed and was signed into law, unemployment is up in Richmond , up in Virginia , and up across this country.  The stimulus has failed. 

“Beginning in January, House Republicans laid out a serious and substantive plan that put jobs first.  The President and Democrats in the House instead took an unfocused, ‘go it alone' approach that has failed to create jobs.

“In the current economic environment, we must do everything we can to preserve, protect and create jobs.  I put together this job fair with one goal in mind – to create jobs and get Virginians back to work."
