H1N1 Flu Virus

Thank you for visiting my website. I continue to monitor closely the occurrence of H1N1 flu virus cases in Virginia and nationwide, and will post relevant information on my website as updates are warranted.

-- Rep. Eric Cantor

Information Updates

As it does annually for typical strains of the flu, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has made available a vaccine for the H1N1 flu. You may find basic information about how the vaccine is administered and what to expect if you receive the vaccine on the CDC’s website. Virginia has been working in coordination with the CDC to deliver and administer H1N1 vaccinations to certain at-risk populations at public schools, local health departments and other public vaccination sites. To find an accessible location close to you and your family, please click here. Although production delays have temporarily led to vaccine delays in some areas, the Virginia Department of Health and CDC do expect to ultimately make the vaccine available to every Virginian who wishes to receive it. For answers to frequently asked questions, including those regarding the vaccine production delay, please click here.

You may call the Virginia Department of Health’s toll free H1N1 hotline at 1-877-ASK-VDH3 with any questions regarding availability for at-risk groups.

You may find more information on Virginia’s efforts to identify and combat H1N1 flu on the website of the Virginia Department of Health.
