Cantor Cosponsors Budget Spending Cut Legislation
WASHINGTON, DC - Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), today cosponsored three bills to enact across the board reductions in non-defense, non-homeland discretionary spending. The legislation included one, two, and five percent cuts. Savings are estimated between $10 and $25 billion in a single year. The bills original sponsor, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), will introduce the bills this week and the next.
“The election reminded us that Conservative Republicans must continually work to restrain federal spending. These cuts to non-defense, non-homeland discretionary spending will provide billions in savings for American taxpayers and tighten the government’s belt.”
“I believed these cuts were necessary several years ago, and I believe they’re necessary now. I have always held spending concerns and fiscal restraint high on the priority list and will continue to in the 110th Congress,” stated Congressman Eric Cantor.
